Squid Game: Producer Hint On Release Of Season 2

Many are still waiting for news of Squid Game Season 2, a series that triumphed in 2021 and became a phenomenon when it premiered on Netflix. It’s the only one that managed to topple ‘The Bridgertons’ as the most-watched series in the platform’s history.

It’s already been a year since the first season was seen and now we’ll have to wait a little longer to find out how the South Korean series will perform. Its creator Hwang Dong-hyuk is already giving some hints and revealed that season 2 won’t air until late 2023 or early 2024.

He said so in an interview with Vanity Fair, in which he also acknowledged that nothing was filmed yet, despite renewing with Netflix months ago.

At the moment it has three pages with ideas for the script of the new chapters which will contain new games. “Humanity will be tested again through these games,” he noted. “I want to ask the question: ‘is a real solidarity between people possible?'” he added.

His words are explained if you are familiar with the plot of the first season, in which the contestants of the games repeatedly betray each other to survive and obtain the final prize of 45.6 billion won for the winner. Only star Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) showed his solidarity and left the ending open for a second installment in the series.

The Squid game will have new characters.

The first season ended with the death of most of the main characters, but according to its creator a few months ago, the idea is that two of them will also be in season 2: “Gi-hun c’ is on. He will be back, and I think the leader will be back as well,” he said.

It is also not excluded that one of the characters most loved by fans of the series but deceased in the first part will return. HoYeon Jung, who played Kang Sae-book, may return as her twin sister. However, this is unconfirmed, so we will have to wait for more details about the hit series.
