The name of the brain behind the creation of the Nigerian Idol is Simon Fuller.

Simon Fuller was born on the 17th day of May 1960. He is an entrepreneur of British Origin, a film and television producer, and an artist manager. He is also the brain behind the Idols television format, including the UK series Pop Idol and the US series American Idol.

 

His prominence came about in the 90s when he managed the pop group called the Spice Girls. The Spice Girls are a British girl group established in the year  I994, it was made up of Melanie Brown, aka Mel B (“Scary Spice”); Melanie Chisholm, or Melanie C (“Sporty Spice”); Emma Bunton (“Baby Spice”); Geri Halliwell (“Ginger Spice”); and Victoria Beckham (“Posh Spice”). With their “girl power” mantra, they redefined the girl-group concept by targeting a young female fanbase. They led the teen pop resurgence of the 1990s, were a major part of the Cool Britannia era, and ended up becoming the pop culture icons of the decade.

 

He has also managed acts including David and Victoria Beckham, Annie Lennox, S Club 7, Now United, Sir Bradley Wiggins, Steven Tyler, Lewis Hamilton, Andy Murray, Amy Winehouse, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Will Young, Emma Bunton, and Lisa Marie Presley.

 

Fuller was named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Times in 2007 and was certified as the most successful British music manager of all time by Billboard in 2008.

 

In 1981 at Chrysalis in A&R (Chrysalis Records) in the UK, Fuller began his career when he signed Madonna’s first hit ‘Holiday’ to the company. In 1985, He started his own management company in London, 19 Entertainment, he eventually sold the business to CKX, Inc.

 

In May 2008, Fuller married his long-term girlfriend Natalie Swanston and the union is blessed with three kids.

As a businessman, added to his portfolio is real estate including properties in Europe, North America, and South America.
